Sam is a 3-year-old classic Basset Hound. He is house-trained, uses a doggie door, and sleeps soundly in a large crate at night. During the day, Sam loves being outdoors—no matter the weather! You’ll often find him patrolling the yard, sniffing every inch, or entertaining himself with stick collecting. Because of his love for the outdoors, he’ll need a home with a securely fenced yard.
Sam is gentle and loving with people and loves to be a lap dog when it’s time to relax. Due to his boisterous, playful nature when he isn’t cuddling in someone’s lap, he would do best in a home with older children. He’s a young, smart hound who would benefit from continued mental and physical exercise. Sam would do well with a calm canine sibling who could help him boost his confidence.
With his goofy antics and lively personality, Sam is guaranteed to steal your heart. If you’re ready for unending love and fun, Sam is waiting to meet you! Contact BROOD today to learn more about adopting this special guy. His adoption fee is $300.00.
**Only BROOD-approved adopters can meet a dog (no exceptions). Our adoption application is on the BROOD website at https://brood-va.org/adoptionapp/. We adopt to residents of Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, DC, Delaware, and southern Pennsylvania. Do not apply to adopt from BROOD if you live in another state. We require a virtual home visit and a veterinary reference. The age of BROOD dogs is an estimate, as very few come with exact age records. 01/27/2026
