My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mistletoe, Garland's equally adorable six-month-old sister and a bundle of playful charm. Full of curiosity and kitten energy, Mistletoe is always ready for fun-especially when a crinkly toy is involved. The sound alone is enough to send her into happy zoomies and playful pounces. While she loves playtime, Mistletoe also enjoys being close to her people, showing her affection in sweet, gentle ways. With her lively spirit and love for crinkle toys, Mistletoe perfectly balances playfulness and warmth, making her a delightful companion and a wonderful sister to anyone who is in need of a furry friend. Both Garland and Mistletoe would love a furry friend, who can show them the ropes in their new home.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
