Alexandra (born 1/23/2025) came to the Humane Society of New York as a small puppy because she had been attached by another dog who injured her eye. We immediately took her to the ophthalmologist who let us know that she was blind in that eye and would not see from her left eye for the rest of her life. We followed the doctor’s orders, and though her left eye will never have sight, with extra special care and nursing her eye did not have to be removed. Alexandra will need to be on daily eye drops, but otherwise, she can enjoy a wonderful happy life. Sweet, funny, playful Alexandra weighs 11 ½ pounds and her DNA Test revealed that she is 59.1% Pekingese, 20.7% Yorkshire Terrier and 20.2% Shih Tzu and absolutely One of A Kind! Alexandra has a wonderful friendly personality. She enjoys playing with her toys and the other small dogs, daily brushing (is a must!) and is currently wee wee pad trained.
