My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ivy is looking for a special adopter who will give her time to decompress and help her know she’s safe. She was adopted from us in 2022 and unfortunately became involved in a humane case with several other dogs, so she hasn’t had the most stable life so far.

Many of our volunteers adore her. She probably receives more one-on-one time than any other dog! She has a calm confidence about her and doesn’t make a whole lot of noise. She keeps to herself in her kennel and occasionally needs to be steered away from other dogs, but she met a male pound dog the other day and didn’t seem to mind him!

Ivy would thrive as your only pet but we are also open to meet and greets with other dogs. She would do best in a home with children who are old enough to read her body language. She’s a sweetheart, but she’s very stoic and doesn’t show much emotion, so knowing when she needs her space is a must!

If you’d like to add Ivy to your family, let us know!

Additional adoption info

The Marion County Dog Pound is now under the control of the Marion County Sheriff's Office and is located at 2252 Richland Road. We are required by law to hold a dog for 3 days to allow the owner to claim the dog. If it is not claimed, it will then be an adoptable dog. We will post all adoptable dogs on our Facebook page along with pictures. The adoption fee is $135 which includes the spay/neuter surgery, Heartworm test, rabies, Intra-trac, and DAPP Vaccines, and a dog tag. We are a rescue friendly facility and do not charge a pull fee, rescues are more than welcome to make a donation when pulling a vetted dog but it is not required.

Dogs are as is. There are no health guarantees
Adopters are required to sign an agreement to spay/neuter the dog if not already done, the dog may be seized if any portion of the adoption contract is broken.

More about this shelter

The Marion County Dog Pound is a county facility that is run by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. We respond to stray/loose dogs and Humane cases, bringing in several dogs a week. Since the Sheriff's Office took over, we have became classified as a no-kill facility only euthanizing for sickness and aggression. We are doing our best to maintain a no-kill environment and are working diligently to help and re-home every dog that comes through our doors. To do this we need the help of our community. Volunteers are welcome to come out at any time!
