Doobie and Crookshanks are still available for adoption, and their adoption fee is a name your own fee. They’re both about 3 years old—two sweet, affectionate boys who are ready to find their forever families 🐱✨.
These brothers came to us after their owner had to move and was unable to take them along. While they don’t have to be adopted together, it would be wonderful if they could, because they truly love each other’s company 💕.
Doobie and Crookshanks are FeLV+ (Feline Leukemia Virus positive), which means they’ll do best in homes where they can either be the only cats or live with other FeLV+ cats. Despite this, they are happy, playful, and full of love—they just need someone special to give them the safe, caring home they deserve 🏡🌟.
On intake, every cat receives: ✅ Spay/neuter surgery ✅ Microchip ✅ All vaccinations ✅ Combo test ✅ Full exam by our veterinarian ✅ Flea and heartworm preventative
Additionally, we provide a free wellness exam to all adopters within 7–10 days of adoption 🩺🌟.
Do you have any questions, or would you like to set an appointment to meet Doobie and Crookshanks to see if one—or both—might be the perfect fit for your home?

Our adoption fees for adult dogs start at $300, though could be higher based on adoption demand and medical costs. Our adoption fees for puppies start at $400, though could be higher based on adoption demand, and includes 4 veterinary visits to update vaccines and perform spay/neuter. Some dogs have higher adoption fees because of adoption interest
Our shelter mission focuses on medical and behavioral rehab cases, so our adoption fees never cover our costs.
We have an adoption application for dogs and cats and will check a vet reference as well as information regarding your home situation and pet compatibility.
Some adoptions will require a home visit.

More about this shelter
Animal Hope opened its doors as a standalone shelter on February 1, 2015.
Prior to that, Animal Hope operated as a small rescue at Animal Hospital Southwest. As the municipal veterinarian for the city of Fort Worth, Animal Hospital Southwest frequently pulled difficult cases that the city was not equipped to treat and rehabilitate due to budgetary and time constraints.
From this organization was born the Animal Hope shelter, a rescue focusing on rehabilitation and “second chance” adoptions.
