ELF NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!
Name: Elf Best Guess for Breed: Corgi mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 years as of December 2025 SEX: Male
Approximate Weight: 15 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: South Carolina shelter- needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!
Special adoption considerations: Elf is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment.

Elf is Looking For: This tremendously cute boy with the even cuter name landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He's eager to once again have his own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on his wish list too, but you know what? He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, he knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved, in a home where he belongs.
In exchange he promises to make you go awww every time you look at that face, and love and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Elf down there by your side?
