My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a gentle giant to join your outdoor adventures? Look no further!

Meet Charlie! Charlie is a 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier and Mastiff mix with a heart of gold. During the day, he will happily join you on the trail. When it is time to settle in, he loves to cuddle. Charlie is a social butterfly and enjoys meeting other dogs on walks.

He walks well on leash, though he may pull when he sees a dog he wants to greet. Charlie does a great job checking in with his handler and knows basic commands such as sit, stay, come, down, and wait. He has lived peacefully with another dog in the home but would benefit from a thoughtful introduction to ensure a good fit.

Charlie can be a bit anxious and will need a patient, supportive family to help him adjust to a new environment. With time, consistency, and reassurance, he will continue to build confidence.

This guy is all about community safety, making sure everyone knows when there is an emergency vehicle siren coming your way. His charming howl will be sure to alert everyone to keep clear!

If you are searching for a loveable, high-energy companion to share adventures and quiet moments, Charlie might be your perfect match. Come meet him and let this gentle soul win you over. While online applications are welcome, in-person meets have priority.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
