My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hello!  I'm Elton, also known as Elton Cheese and Crackers because I LOVE cheese!  I have to tell you that I had a pretty rough start in life, but now I'm in my foster home and I'm gaining confidence and learning how to be a dog. My foster parents tell me that I'm doing great and that I learn very quickly.  They're impressed at how I've progressed but I will still need someone with time and patience to continue working with me. I sleep in my crate, am potty trained, walk well on a leash, and get along famously with my dog brother and any other dog I meet.  I have so much fun playing with the dogs at the dog park.  My foster parents are currently working with me on learning basic commands and I learning super quick because I will do anything for CHEESE!  I've also just learned how fun it is to have a Kong toy filled with Cheerios and a snuffle mat to find treats hidden in!  I know how to ride in vehicles, I love sleeping on my dog beds, and I have also conquered the fear of stairs!  I will need a playful medium to large dog in the home to help me continue to learn and enjoy all the things about being a dog, and to help me get the exercise and mental stimulation that I need.  I LOVE being outside and find a spot by our big pine tree to sit and sniff the air or hang out on the deck when I'm not zooming.  I may be a little shy when I first meet you but it's nothing personal. I was not socialized for the first 10 months of my life, but when I meet people I am curious and not afraid of them and I will sniff you and let you give me a gentle pat.  I hope you'd like to meet me and make me part of your family, I'm so excited to get to do all sorts of great dog things as I grow up!
