My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rosie — Brave, Social, and Full of Life

Hi, I’m Rosie. My life didn’t start easily, but I’ve shown nothing but strength, sweetness, and resilience through it all.

I was found in a shelter in Turkey, frightened and huddled in a metal cage, missing one of my back legs. We don’t know what happened to me—only that I had already endured far more than any cat ever should. If I hadn’t been rescued, I wouldn’t have made it out alive.

Now I’m safe—and discovering just how kind life can be.

Despite my rough start, I’m a brave, outgoing girl who settled into foster care right away. New spaces don’t scare me—I’m curious, confident, and always ready to explore. I may be a tripod, but I have tons of energy and absolutely love to play. Wand toys, laser pointers, crinkly things—I’m all in. I’m smart too, and I’d likely enjoy learning tricks if you’re up for it.

When I want attention (which is often!), I’ve got a signature move: the roly-poly. I roll back and forth dramatically, showing off my belly, batting my paws, and turning on the charm full blast. It’s equal parts silly, flirty, and irresistible—and it usually works. I love being noticed and involved.

I’m incredibly people-oriented and happiest when I’m right in the middle of whatever’s happening. Cooking dinner? I’m supervising. Working from home? I’m nearby. Relaxing on the couch? I’m there, purring and rubbing against you. I adore affection, enjoy being close, and truly thrive on connection.

I’m also great with other cats and really enjoy feline companionship—especially playful friends who can keep up with my energy.

A special note about my buddy, Hunter:
One of my favorite playmates is Hunter, who traveled here all the way from Qatar. We’re fast friends and love to play hard—chasing, wrestling, and wearing each other out in the best way. While I’d be happy with another playful cat, adopting Hunter and me together could be a wonderful option for the right home. We already understand each other, share the same play style, and make a really fun, balanced pair.

Because I’m such a connected, engaged girl, I’d do best in a home where someone is around much of the day—a work-from-home household, an active couple, or a family with a lively routine would be ideal. I don’t love being alone for long stretches and shine brightest when I’m part of the action. A home with room to play and explore (rather than a tiny apartment) would be perfect for me.

I’m petite, teddy-bear cute, affectionate, and full of personality. From a shelter in Turkey to a loving foster home—and now hoping for my forever family in the San Francisco Bay Area—I’m ready to blossom into the companion I was always meant to be.

If you’re looking for a playful, flirty, deeply social cat who wants to share every part of life with you, I just might be your girl.

More about this rescue

Every day adult and senior cats with treatable medical and behavioral conditions are euthanized. GIVE ME SHELTER's goal is to rescue these cats from certain death and place them into loving permanent homes.
GMS is a registered 501(c)3 organization and is dedicated to helping stop the overpopulation of unwanted and abandoned cats. We are a small group of dedicated volunteers who are committed to bettering the life of adult cats who no longer have a home to call their own. Every time you adopt from us, you allow us to save another cat that would have otherwise died. We receive new cats into our system almost every week. Our website is constantly being updated, so please check back often!
