Meet Buttons, a SUPER sweet 2-3 year old female mixed breed dog, weighing about 14 lbs! Photos make this girl look bigger than she is (you know what they say about the camera adding 10 lbs ), but she is actually quite petite! Buttons is the mama to Ribbon, Ruffles, and Zipper.
Buttons was picked up as a stray in east TN when she was heavily pregnant. She came to us in awful shape with demodox mange/dermatitis and double ear infections. She gave birth to 9 puppies on 8/24/2025, 2 of which were sadly stillborn. 4 of the remaining 7 babies passed within days of birth (likely due to mama Button’s poor health and lack of nutrients/care during the majority of her pregnancy ). The three surviving pups - Ribbon, Ruffles, and Zipper - have absolutely THRIVED and have grown into fat, healthy puppies! This little family has arrived in New England and are now ready to find their furever homes!
Buttons still has some skin issues that are being treated topically and orally (we suspect allergies and/or an autoimmune disease), but she looks SO much better than she did a few months ago! Her hair is growing back in and is less patchy, although her neck and face are still bare. The hair on the top of her head is coming back in slowly. She wears clothes to stop her from itching/irritating her skin, and she doesn’t mind wearing the clothes one bit! She will likely require continued medicated baths and possibly ongoing medication to keep her comfortable and not itchy.
Buttons is a lovebug who enjoys attention and will let you do anything to her - she does not object to medication, being dressed in clothes, really anything at all! She is very friendly girl who loves making new friends! She is good with other dogs but can be a little jealous and wants to be the center of your attention. Good with dog savvy cats (she will chase if they run but will otherwise ignore them). She loves to play with toys and walks great on leash.
She is medically up to date (awaiting her spay appointment now that she is done nursing and her skin has healed - she will be spayed prior to adoption), housebroken, and crate trained. Apply to meet this special mama today!

Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding!
