My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Hatch Date: 2020

Abraxos is a 5-year-old, confirmed female Green Cheek Conure.

Abraxos is a hand-tamed, friendly, green-cheeked conure who is quite entertaining.

She can be wonderfully snuggly and loves nothing more than safflower seeds, a good bath, funky music, and gentle head scratches.
She enjoys a lot of out-of-cage time, playing with toys, and climbing around her cage.
She is an excellent flyer, and will fly to her foster mom for cuddles or for a head scratch.

Abraxos isn’t overly loud for a conure, but she can be nippy—and may give a strong bite—when she’s overstimulated or startled.
She thrives in a calm, predictable environment and needs plenty of rest to stay at her best.
With someone who understands parrot body language and has prior bird experience, she will continue to blossom.

She has been on a great diet of Harrison's pellets and will try fresh fruits and vegetables, but loves raspberries most.
She is also a fan of safflower seeds and millet, which is great for training and getting to know you :)

She doesn't seem to have a favorite person in her foster home  and will interact with both men and women.
She has only met one small child so far, and one older one so far.

She doesn't seem to mind the foster home's dog ;)
However, startled by their barking and I’m guessing given the option she’d prefer a home without dogs.
But definitely needs to be strictly supervised around other animals in the house.

She will make an outstanding companion for her adopter.
She came into us because the husband developed asthma and couldn't be in the same room with the bird any longer:(
If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, quirky companion and have the experience to help her feel safe and confident, Abraxos may be your perfect match.

Abraxos has been disease tested for chlamydia and PBFD.

Abraxos is being fostered in Bristol, PA.  She will require in-person visits before adoption.
We do not ship our birds.
For the Love of Birds is a network of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.
As our adoptable birds are living in private volunteer homes, we only allow approved adopters to make the required visits.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption procedure begins with completing an adoption application and returning it to us. We will check your references and then call you for a telephone interview. While we check your references, we will ask that you review an educational power point presentation. After your application is approved, it is our policy that you visit with the bird(s) three times to have multiple interactions with them and give you time to consider the adoption and get ready for your new family member. There is an adoption fee for each bird.
