My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A SWEET & SHY LITTLE GIRL:  Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 9 lbs.

Hi, my name is Shay!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control with another doggie friend.  I was super nervous there and have slowly opened up since joining the Mutts family.  I’m in a great foster home, where my sweet personality is sure to continue to blossom.  Plan to meet me soon and see if we are a match ‘made in rescue’.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I haven’t met other dogs at Mostly Mutts yet, though I did come in with another dog.  If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  Though I was a bit shy and nervous for my shelter bath, my bather said I was a trooper and described me as ‘the sweetest girl with big, beautiful eyes’.  The volunteers went slowly with me – sitting with me and allowing me to open up in my own time.  In my foster home, I am starting to show my cuddly side, as I often share my foster’s chair.  I’m growing more confident each day and look forward to being someone’s awesome companion. / My energy level is currently 1-3, but this will likely increase as I settle into my new home and grow my confidence.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I don’t know any specific commands, but I have shown good leash manners now that I am more comfortable on my leash.  I bet you can teach me some great doggie commands. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in my foster home. / I only had one accident on the shelter schedule before going to my foster home, and my potty habits have been good there.  Hopefully that will be the case in my new home, too.

• LIKES/DISLIKES:  Once I know you, I am content to just hang out with you, collect all the petting and watch the world go by.  Even in the beginning when I was nervous at the shelter, I enjoyed going to the play yard to explore a little bit.  I’d likely enjoy a nice, fenced yard where we can relax together. / I’m still settling into new surroundings, so loud noises startle me.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training.

• MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.

I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue & Adoption's Adoption Process

Our facility is currently open to the public Monday-Saturday, 11-3. We welcome you to come meet our adoptable Mutts & Kitties! Please keep in mind the following:

Many of our adoptable Mutts & Kitties are in foster homes, so please call 770-272-6888 to find out if the pet you are interested in is at our facility. With an approved application we can set up meet & greets and adoptions with a pet in foster care.
We are not yet up to full ‘staffing’ following the pandemic, so there may be times when we cannot do meet & greets or process an application on the spot.
The best first step is to submit an application via www.mostlymutts.org.
Our adoption counselors are happy to help make a great match for you and your family!

Adoption Info:
Please submit an application through our website at www.mostlymutts.org if you are interested in one of our adoptable pets. We are receiving a large volume of applications and processing may take a little bit longer than normal. We are grateful for your interest, and an adoption counselor will be in touch as quickly as possible. Please give us 48 hours to respond before sending a follow-up email.

Don’t see a dog or cat for you on the website? Submit the application anyway!! We are taking in a large number of dogs and cats weekly. Due to the overwhelming demand, many are matched with approved applicants prior to being posted online. Our adoption counselors will be happy to help make a great match for you and your family.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Who We Are:

Mostly Mutts is a 501(c)3, non-profit organization, staffed almost entirely by volunteers!

Our Mission is to help the Unwanted, Abandoned, Abused and Sick animals in our local counties. We fulfill this mission by working closely with County Animal Control Facilities, saving those who are in imminent danger of euthanasia, or those with needs which require specialized vet care that many other groups will not consider: major orthopedic issues, heartworm positive treatment, skin conditions, neglect and abuse
