My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birthday: May 5, 2020

Location: Lewistown, PA

Penny is cute as a button! She greets her family with a squeaky meow with her big blue eyes staring at the door, just asking to be petted! She will play politely with your hand or toy, then snuggle up while you watch TV. Her tiny size and playful nature makes her often seem like a “forever kitten,” but with the manners of a mature cat.

  • Got a wand toy or jingle balls?  Watch her chase it gleefully then drag her catch away proudly.

  • Want to snuggle?  Penny loves to lay on your chest for a neck rub and plenty of purring.

Penny came to the rescue with her BFF, Kenny, after their owner died.  Sadly, Kenny has since passed away.  As Penny has tested positive for feline leukemia virus (FeLV), she would enjoy being the only cat in the home or joining a playful FeLV+ housemate. We have not told Penny about her condition, and she doesn’t seem to notice it except for some residual eye and nose drainage from a previous respiratory infection.  Like many cats with FeLV, she has a suppressed immune system and seems to have trouble getting rid of the last of her “kitty cold.”  She's currently on two daily medicines plus prescription food indefinitely, but that doesn't stop her from being the playful rascal that she is! Cats with FeLV can live happy, meaningful lives.  They are immune compromised, so they must stay indoors, eat quality food, and see the vet regularly.  With care and love, Penny could live a long, happy life as your best friend!

Penny’s adoption donation is $50   a nd includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay.
