Cinnamon buns! Just the thought probably makes you feel warm all over, doesn’t it! I wasn’t warm when I was found walking into someone’s home in rural Wisconsin! I was hoping to get out of the cold! I’m a 7-year-old tabby named Cinnamon. No one came forward to claim me, so I went to a rescue place. Now I’m here at Paws and Claws. I am a girl who values my space and wants clear boundaries. I can be nervous and may hiss and growl if I am approached too quickly. I prefer to observe from a distance and choose when I feel comfortable engaging. Someone from the rescue described me as having an energy level that is mostly low to moderate, and I settle best in a calm, predictable environment with minimal pressure. I was hissing and avoidant prior to the vet visit at the shelter soon after my arrival, but once I was caught, I did not fuss at all! I will need slow, respectful handling and will benefit from a quiet space, patience and a consistent routine that allows me to build trust at my own pace. If you have a quiet home and have the time and patience to let me adjust at my own pace, I’d love to be your Cinnamon girl.

We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.
We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.
Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds.We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
