My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Petunia was brought in by her previous owner on October 10, 2025.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Petunia! Petunia is a quiet gal with big main-character energy... once she feels comfortable. At first she may be a bit mysterious, but with patience and a calm home, her sweet personality shines. Once she settles in, she becomes a gentle, affectionate girl who happily follows her people from room to room like a tiny supervisor, quietly keeping tabs on your day. She has a calm, peaceful demeanor and loves pets and attention on her own terms. Petunia is happiest lounging in a sunny window, birdwatching and enjoying the view. While she adores being near her people, she prefers not to be picked up and would rather keep all four paws on the ground. She's not looking to share the spotlight - solo star roles only, please. Petunia recently had a dental with extractions on 12/13 and is healing well. She'll need a recheck on 12/27, should continue wearing her E-collar until her extraction sites have healed, and will need another dental with radiographs in about a year. If you're into peaceful vibes and being quietly adored by a cat with excellent taste, Petunia might just be your perfect match. Don't forget to bring a carrier - Petunia insists on traveling in style (and with minimal fuss)!

At SDHS:
Petunia has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Petunia is now ready for her new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
