This sweet boy may share a name with the most famous reindeer, but Rudolph has his own kind of magic. He came to the shelter with another dog and has shown that he can happily share space with a canine companion once he gets comfortable. New dog friends can feel a little overwhelming at first, so Rudolph prefers to take things slow—but once he warms up, he settles in nicely and enjoys calm company.
Rudolph is an affectionate guy who absolutely loves people. During his time with staff, he happily hopped into laps for attention and soaked up all the love he could get. He has a gentle, sensitive side and can be startled by sudden movements or lots of commotion, but in a relaxed setting his sweet personality truly shines.
With his soft heart, loving nature, and endearing quirks, Rudolph is the kind of dog who will gladly be your cozy companion—especially during quiet moments and cuddle time. If you’re looking for a tender, affectionate pup who just wants to feel safe and adored, Rudolph may be ready to light up your holidays and beyond.

Visit our shelter. Once you decide on an animal, you will meet with one of the adoption counselors to go over the adoption contract, your new pet’s medical history, and answer any questions you may have. Adopters will need a valid photo ID and must be 18 years of age. After completing your adoption, you’ll take your first family photo with your new addition before taking your new pet home!
Adoption fees very depending on age and type of animal. All of our animals receive age appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment, worming and microchipping.
Please Note: E-mail is NOT an advised way to contact us regarding animals available for adoption or animals that you have lost or found. Due to staffing constraints, messages may not receive a response within 24 hours.

More about this shelter
The Toledo Area Humane Society was founded on February 14, 1884. As one of the oldest humane societies in the United States, our original purpose was to prevent cruelty and provide refuge for both animals and children. To this day, we investigate cruelty to animals and provide homeless, abused and abandoned animals with protection and safety. TAHS is a private, non-profit organization and receives no funding from the United Way, the government, or national humane organizations. Donations from local individuals, corporations and generated by our fundraisers are the sole source of funding. Programs like Forever Friends, for people who include TAHS in their wills, and the Golden Paw League, for people who give gifts of $250 or more, have been established to give people donation options and to recognize their generosity. Volunteers help supplement the staff assisting with tasks both inside and outside of our facility. Volunteers provide enrichment for animals such as walking dogs or socializing cats. The Humane Education and Pet Therapy Visitation programs are dependent on our volunteers. Foster care volunteers provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals too young for adoption and for sick or injured animals. It is our goal to help every animal at-risk for abandonment or cruelty, and to find a home for every adoptable animal. The Humane Society is the only animal welfare group in this community who will give refuge to any animal at-risk for abuse or neglect, regardless of its type, health, age or whether we have space.
