My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gigi! This sweet and spirited 4-year-old tabby is ready to find her forever home! Originally rescued as a kitten, Gigi has spent her first 4 years being loved and cared for — and now she’s looking for a new family to give her the same affection she’s always known.

This beautiful girl is a perfect mix of shy and playful. She may be a little reserved at first, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines. Gigi loves boxes, bags, and any toy she can bat around — she’s an energetic little lady who enjoys playtime and cozy naps alike.

Gigi has done great with kids! She is currently living with two energetic Corgis who find cat chasing fun. :-( So she is looking for a home without dogs. She has lived with two other cats -- one was friendly and the other did not like her.

Because she can be shy around loud noises and unfamiliar people, she’ll appreciate a patient adopter who can give her time to adjust and feel secure.

Gigi is about 4 years old and weighs around 10 lbs. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. She's always done great with the litter box except when the dogs have scared her away from the litter box -- and we can't blame her for that!

If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate feline friend who will blossom in a peaceful home, Gigi might be your girl!

Gigi is losing her home because a new human family member is allergic to kitties. Her two housemate cats have found their forever homes -- now it's Gigi's turn!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The pets listed here are available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. The adoption process is similar to what you'd experience with a typical rescue organization. Feel free to reach out to ask for more details. On a separate page, we list the cats available through our special needs cat rescue program.

More about this rescue

Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter (FFOCAS) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit "friends" group helping our local county-run animal shelter. On this page, we list the pets available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. Reducing intake at our partner shelter saves lives in two ways: (1) by ensuring that pets rehomed through Project Hope never enter the shelter and (2) by leaving more time and resources available at the shelter for those pets who do go to the shelter. In addition to Project Hope, we have our Cats with Character program, through which we take in primarily special needs kitties who are not doing well at our partner shelter, and Brooke's Medical Fund, through which we cover veterinary costs for shelter pets. Check out our website for more information!
