My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jinxy is a 16-year-old beauty described by her current owner as a gentle, affectionate “all around great cat.” The family’s circumstances have changed, and this sweet senior girl needs to find a new home as soon as possible.

Jinxy loves getting scritches on the head, sharing cuddles (on her terms), and occasionally sleeping on the pillow next to her person. Though she does love affection from her people, she also has an independent side.

Don’t let her age fool you! Jinxy still occasionally brings out her inner kitten and bats around twist ties and bottle caps on the floor. :-)

Jinxy will tolerate respectful dogs and cats and will let them sniff her when they approach non-aggressively. She is not a fan of fast-moving people and will run away if scared.

This mellow girl has good litter box habits. She is spayed and up to date on her shots. She has hyperthyroidism, not unusual in senior cats, and takes daily medication to keep her thyroid levels balanced.

Jinxy is looking for a soft place to land and live out her golden years. Do you have a peaceful, cat-friendly home and a little extra love to give? If so, this may be the girl for you. We (FFOCAS) are helping Jinxy's family safely rehome her. Please get in touch via email (ffocasrea@gmail.com) or through Adoptapet. We’ll ask you to fill out a rehoming application to keep this process as safe as possible for all involved – especially Jinxy.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The pets listed here are available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. The adoption process is similar to what you'd experience with a typical rescue organization. Feel free to reach out to ask for more details. On a separate page, we list the cats available through our special needs cat rescue program.

More about this rescue

Frederick Friends of Our County Animal Shelter (FFOCAS) is the 501(c)(3) nonprofit "friends" group helping our local county-run animal shelter. On this page, we list the pets available through our facilitated rehoming program, Project Hope. We aim to help pet parents safely rehome their pets when they can no longer care for them. Reducing intake at our partner shelter saves lives in two ways: (1) by ensuring that pets rehomed through Project Hope never enter the shelter and (2) by leaving more time and resources available at the shelter for those pets who do go to the shelter. In addition to Project Hope, we have our Cats with Character program, through which we take in primarily special needs kitties who are not doing well at our partner shelter, and Brooke's Medical Fund, through which we cover veterinary costs for shelter pets. Check out our website for more information!
