Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lizabeth is a gentle, sweet girl who is a little shy in her foster home but truly shines when she is outside with her foster siblings. She is settling in at her own pace and already showing what a wonderful companion she can be. Lizabeth walks nicely on a leash, is both crate and house trained, and knows her 'come' command. She likes kids and enjoys being part of a family. Lizabeth would do best in a home without chickens, as she enjoys chasing them.
Lizabeth is one year old and weighs 28 pounds.
The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member. helpingstrays.org

Go meet their pets
We welcome you to stop by our facility located at 4221 Hanover Road in Columbia, IL.
We promote the humane care of all abandoned and stray animals in our community. We are a no-kill shelter. All of our pets leave the shelter for their forever homes micro-chipped, up to date on vaccines, and altered.
Founded in 2002, Helping Strays is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization supported entirely by donations.
Our lucky animals receive appropriate medical care, are featured on the Helping Strays website "adoption list" and are taken to several adoption events every month in an attempt to find permanent, loving homes.
