My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Odette is the cutest ball of fur you'll see in a long time! She is a mellow little sweetie who just wants a calm home where she can lounge around. So far in the shelter she has enjoyed time in her play pen where she finds a cozy spot to sit and watch the world go by. She is very friendly, but doesn't always like to be disturbed, she will give a little thump if you try to change the blanket she's sitting on, or if you disturb her area.

She was originally adopted out from our shelter, but returned after 3 years because her care and maintenance became a bit too much. Being the ball of fluff that she is, she is prone to getting mats in her fur, and poop stuck to her legs/butt, so frequent grooming will be something to consider if you are interested in adopting. Due to her higher need of care, we are looking for an experienced owner for her to make sure she gets her best chance at a happy, proper life.

Odette is good about peeing in her litterbox, but does sometimes poop outside of it. She was described by her previous owners as "mostly litterbox trained". In her surrender form she was also said to be frinedly with her family, but avoidant of new people (which can be very typical of rabbits or an animal), it was also noted she can be grumpy (but not aggresive) if disturbed or attempted to be picked up while resting. "She really is the greatest rabbit, I just cant keep up with her needs... She is funny in the way that she thumps at us, a little tempermental like a cat. She always comes up to my kids, and likes being around them. The toughest part is her poop gets stuck to her butt, and she is not good at grooming herself"

Sweet Odette is the queen of her own world and would do perfect in a home that has respect for her boundaries and has a rabbit safe space she can free roam and lounge around as she loves to do! She was kept in a fence in the sunroom in her previous home, as she had been destructive of carpet. She has not lived with dogs or cats, so it is unsure if that would be too stressful of an enviornment for her to join.

Rabbits make wonderful companions, but they do require specialized care to thrive. Before adopting, please take the time to research their unique needs to ensure you're fully prepared to provide a happy, healthy home. Rabbits are not reccomended for families with children under 10 years old due to their fragile nature and specialized care. You can learn more here:

Once you have a general approval you can set up an appointment to have a 1-on-1 meet. Rabbits can also be seen in their play pens during open viewing hours Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday 1-5.
