My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there!

My name is Mary.

Me and my brothers were found dumped in a ditch on a cold rainy night. Shivering, wet and scared, a kind lady stopped and offered us some help. She brought us home, but couldn't bring us in the house so she made a place for us outside to be out of the cold and rain.

The next day, she called Lucies. Thank the Lord they had some space for us! 3 little pups is a lot for a shelter to take in and care for. Boy are we glad they did!

We are not sure what breed we are...one vet called us a red heeler mix, while another said a hound mix. We have short little legs right now, so your guess is as good as ours. We are absolutely adorable though!! Each one of has our own cute little face and head markings.

Personality..... boy howdy do we each have our own! While we are enjoying our time here playing with our handlers, we sure would love to have a home of our own. Please ask to meet us. You will fall instantly in love!!

*** We strive to ensure our dogs are going to a safe, loving and caring home. Phone interviews are required for all adoptions****

Additional adoption info

Interested adopters contact our adoption volunteer either via email or phone. Our volunteer in turn talks to them more about the pet they are interested in. If the adopter seems like a good match, they are requested to complete an application. They come to the rescue location to meet the dog of interest. We also sometimes arrange a home visit to make sure the environment is suitable for the dog. If all is well, they will get a call from a volunteer letting them know they are approved for adoption. They will be provided copies of the vaccination and sterilization records. A delivery day will be arranged for the dog. Either the adopter may come and pick up the dog, or a volunteer can arrange to have the dog delivered. They sign our adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. We do periodically contact our adopters to check up on the dog to make sure everyone is happy and healthy and enjoying their new life!

More about this shelter

Local Unity for Canines In Emergency Situations. We are a dog rescue organization, not a shelter or a pound!

We are a group of neighbors who, as a community effort, are helping the many strays and dumped dogs in the area. We take them in, care for them, feed - vaccinate - worm - socialize, and try to find them forever homes. We do depend on donations to help out, and will accept food, medication, bedding, fostering, and direct donations to Veterinarians.
