My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB: July 13th, 2018

Meet Kilo – Your Giant Teddy Bear Cat!
If you’re searching for a big, confident, teddy-bear-of-a-cat, Kilo just might be your guy. This handsome fellow is calm, sweet, and affectionate, with a wonderfully relaxed personality. Kilo’s favorite place is wherever his human is—often right on (or very near) your lap.

Kilo loves being close to his people so much that he’ll happily supervise workouts by laying just inches from the moving parts of the elliptical… as long as he’s near his human. While he does enjoy some playtime, Kilo is generally a medium to low energy cat who prefers lounging and companionship.

He can be vocal at times, occasionally hollering just because—no obvious reason needed! Kilo also loves rubbing his cheeks on people and nearby surfaces, a sure sign of affection (and maybe a little ownership). He’s been known to do a bit of counter-surfing, but gentle redirection has already reduced the habit.

Kilo found his way to his foster family’s rural home as a friendly outdoor visitor. Already neutered and incredibly trusting, he calmly walked right into the humane trap set to help him—before his foster family even had time to walk away.

Since joining the rescue, Kilo has had a major dental with multiple teeth removed. This hasn’t slowed him down one bit—he eats 100% dry food with no issues. He does best on a gastro-intestinal diet, which has resolved the vomiting he experienced early on.

Kilo is also a bit of a sneezy, snuffly guy. He sneezes fairly often and can sound congested, but medical investigations haven’t revealed any underlying cause. His discharge is currently clear and simply something to monitor. Otherwise, Kilo appears happy and healthy.

This thoughtful, gentle boy bonds deeply with his humans and would make an amazing best friend. Because he’s cat-selective and loves being the center of his person’s world, Kilo would do best as the only cat in the home. He was patient and tolerant with a rather naughty dog in foster care, so he may do well with a respectful, cat-savvy dog.

If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion who will fall hard for you and be your loyal shadow, Kilo is ready to claim his throne as the one and only King Cat of your home.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fee is $225 per adult cat, and $300 for kittens (under 8 months old).

This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the attention they need, are spayed or neutered, and receive a rabies vaccination at the appropriate age. For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations and ongoing fundraising efforts carry us the rest of the way!

Note:
-Senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adult adoption fee of $225.
-Our adoption fee for an adult bonded pair (8 months or older) is $175 per cat vs. $225 per cat. Thanks for giving two loving friends a home together!
