My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet RONDA – A Tiny Diamond in the Rough Looking for Her Person

Ronda came to rescue as a feral puppy, and her journey since then has been nothing short of remarkable. She has made tremendous progress and shows us every day that she wants to trust—she’s just not quite there yet. Ronda is sweet, gentle, and quietly hopeful, but she will need an adopter who understands that trust is something earned over time, not rushed.

10 pound Ronda is shy with people, especially at first, but her heart is absolutely in the right place. She watches, listens, and “talks” to you in her own way, letting you know she’s trying. She understands the command “come” and will come close—just not all the way yet. With patience and consistency, she continues to make progress.

She is:
• Sweet and petite
• Shy with people, but clearly wants to trust
• Great with other dogs (they give her confidence!)
• Housebroken
• Crate trained (she will go in on command with a little encouragement—and if she doesn’t see you, she goes right in)
• Vocal in a gentle, endearing way

Ronda would do best in a calm, predictable home—ideally with another confident dog—and with someone who understands shy or fearful dogs and is willing to continue the work her foster has started. She needs a true rescuer: someone who will celebrate the small wins, respect her boundaries, and allow her to move at her own pace.

In return, that person will get something incredibly special. Given time, Ronda will be a loyal, loving companion—and the bond you earn with her will be deeper because of the journey it took to get there.

If you believe in second chances and have the patience to help a deserving dog fully bloom, Ronda just might be your girl.

NOTE: Ronda’s spay will be covered by the rescue at our vet in Sanford when she is old enough. Her adoption fee may be negotiable for the right adopter.

More about this rescue

Our Mission:
At Farm Friends Rescue, our mission is to save the lives of stray, abandoned, abused and surrendered domestic animals in our local community by providing short-term care and shelter while facilitating the placement of these animals into loving and responsible permanent homes.

Our Vision:
Our vision is an educated community with increased shelter adoptions, decreased shelter populations, increased spayed and neutered pets, no pet overpopulation, reduced animal cruelty, and responsible animal ownership.

What We Do:
Farm Friends Rescue is an all-volunteer and foster-based nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated in our efforts to:
-Provide shelter, food, medical attention, comfort, and love to stray, abandoned, neglected and injured animals rescued from local animal shelters or persons within our community.
-Place rescued animals in qualified volunteer foster homes so they can learn socialization with humans and other animals as well as receive love, affection, exercise, recreation, proper nutrition and medical care in a safe and loving environment.
-Sterilize, vaccinate, and microchip all of the animals within our care.
-Rehabilitate sick or injured animals within our care.
Assist lost animals in finding their rightful owners or seek new loving and safe homes for them if no owners can be located.
-Adopt out rescued animals to qualified, responsible and safe homes that have been properly screened through interviews, home visits, reference checks, and regular updates.
-Educate the public about the humane care of animals and encourage responsible pet ownership with an emphasis on spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation.
