My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, Im Helium but my foster parents call me Heelie because I like to be with my people, right by their heels.

I get along wonderfully with dogs and cats. I have never met a dog I did not like, and I have so much fun playing with the puppy that lives next door. I would love to live with another dog that likes to run really fast. I am currently living with three cats and Id be happy to play with them too, but Ive mostly learned to leave them alone because they arent interested in me. I recently stayed at another foster house where they had a dog. They fed me in the same room with their other dog with no problems.

I came from a dog-hoarding situation, but my foster parents are amazed how quickly Ive adjusted to living in a home with boundaries. I like to play with my toys and am not destructive when they leave me alone (although they havent left me alone for more than a few hours yet). I am potty trained and I like walks and treats and really like playing with my toys. I am so sweet and gentle and I like it when people are gentle with me too, so probably best if Im not living with loud and unpredictable children. I get nervous on my walks when I see young children playing and screaming. I am very treat motivated and am not too ashamed to beg for food.

I can be shy with people at first, but 12 people came over for Thanksgiving dinner and I was so happy and relaxed that everyone was there. (Some of them gave me turkey from their plates, but dont tell my foster mom.) My foster parents told their guests to wait until I approached them for pets and that worked out well. I warm up to women more quickly than men, but Ive learned that my foster dad, who is really tall and scared me at first, is a great guy who I can always rely on for breakfast and dinner and treats.

I would do great with an active family, someone who enjoys hikes or runs. My dream is to have a dog brother or sister and maybe some older children to rest my head on. My foster family has a daughter that came to visit recently, and she quickly became my favorite person. I have an amazing smile where my bottom teefers show. I cannot wait to meet my forever family and show you my special smile!

I also qualify for the Welcome Trial program, which means you can take me home for up to 14 days to make sure Im the perfect fit before making things official.

Love, Helium.
