My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet the handsome Rooney, a 1 YO Silver Lab, just hoping to get in a home for the holidays!

Rooney is the total package of handsome, housetrained, and dog and people friendly. He loves attention from everyone!

He is learning some commands like sit, but already walks pretty well on a leash.

Because he loves his attention so much, we would like for him to go to a home with another dog or a family that is home a lot. He is doing well in his kennel by himself, however, he has jumped a 5' fence (well, climbed it would be more accurate) to get where others are. So we would like him to have a fenced yard that is solid, like a white vinyl or board on board.

Rooney is microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and neutered. Which means he is ready to go home NOW! He is fostered in Sarasota and his adoption fee is $400.

More about this rescue

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.

Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
