Who dis girl?
Mabel came to foster at our home just a few weeks ago. She’s a nearly four-year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a playful side! She’s a breeder release girl, so she’ll take a bit to settle into a home, but my initial take is that it will go more quickly than with the average breeder release. She is already playing with the other dogs in our home, especially the puppy. She’s the most mobile and spry Cavalier we’ve fostered.
While she loves other dogs, she’s still shy of people, but we are making great progress after only one day. The 3-3-3 rule of rescue dogs indicates the first three days are all about decompressing. The first three weeks are all about settling in and bonding. The first three months are for building trust. It comes faster for some dogs and slower for others. This girl seems to be starting down the fast track!
The real positives? House trained! No accidents in the house! No barking!
A challenge? She doesn’t understand a leash at all. We’ll be working on that.
Mabel is 3 yrs 9 months old, she weighs 19 pounds, her adoption fee is $400 plus sales tax $18=$418
My adoption fee helps cover all of my vetting needs such as HW test, rabies, DHPPL, Bordetella, spay, dental and microchipping.
