My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Charlie - A Sweet Dog Who Needs a Friend

Charlie is a 4-year-old German Shepherd with a gentle heart. She lived a very quiet life and is just starting to learn that people can be safe. Charlie is shy and needs time to feel comfortable. With patience and love, she will blossom into a loyal friend.
Charlie likes other dogs and likes calm places. She needs a home that is quiet and peaceful. One that gives her space and time. She would do best with someone patient and kind who understands dogs.
Charlie takes medicine to help her feel calm. She also needs care with things like bones because she can guard them.

Charlie's Perfect Home:
• Calm
• No kids
• Someone who understands dogs
• Someone who will go slow and be gentle

If you believe in second chances and want to help a sweet dog, feel safe and loved, Charlie is waiting for you.

The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
