Ben #10504: dark gray tabby & white, medium hair, declawed, neut. male, born 4/4/14
Cats: must be only cat Dogs: no Children: calm / respectful tweens+
BACKGROUND: Ben first came to The Rescue House when he was three days old; he was bottle-raised and then adopted. Eleven years later, he came back to our care when he and his brother could no longer tolerate each other following a lengthy gap when they’d been living apart.
PERSONALITY: Ben is a very sweet and affectionate kitty with a strong purr engine! He likes interactions to be low-key and calm. Soft and gentle pets on his head and body (though please don’t touch his tail), and scritches around his ears and chin are very nice indeed. Once Ben gets to know you and is comfortably settled in, he may even roll over so you can rub his belly. He can get overstimulated if things get too vigorous and will let you know at those times; he’s a vocal guy, and he’s good about communicating when he wants your attention and when he wants his space. Don’t worry, Ben loves people and there will be plenty of opportunities for interaction… he’s just a classic cat who likes to call the shots. His favorite toys are kicker toys, especially when they have catnip and silvervine in them. He also loves his breakfast, and isn’t shy about asking for a meal… and he thinks a tasty lickable tube treat for a snack is always a good idea!
COMPATIBILITY: Ben needs to be your only fur-child. He prefers a calm home where he is not petted or handled too roughly, though he’s generally good with strangers who respect those wishes. We haven’t seen him around children, though suspect that younger or rowdier ones would not be to his taste and he’d do better with older cat-savvy kids 11 and up.
Big Ben is a sweetheart who is ready to settle in with his forever person. Will it be you?
