Hobbs is a 4-year-old, 11-pound mixed breed who is equal parts adorable and gentle soul. He looks like a little blend of Shih Tzu, Poodle, and Schnauzer, with a tan-and-gray coat and the sweetest expression. He may be petite, but his heart is big.
Hobbs came to us as a stray and needed a little time to find his confidence — and wow, has he blossomed. He’s now a total love bug who enjoys cuddles, kisses, being picked up, and simply being near his people. He’s the kind of dog who quietly watches from his cozy bed, always wanting to be close. He also does wonderfully with other dogs and would love a canine friend. He’s gentle with cats, playful without being rough, and shares toys, food, and space beautifully.
Hobbs loves slow, sniff-filled walks (not a power walker!), warm fluffy beds, stuffed toys, and collecting his “treasures” — treats, toys, or the occasional sock — and bringing them back to his home base. Cheese and grilled chicken are his ultimate motivators. He’s mostly housebroken with a consistent routine, sleeps in his crate at night, and comes when called. Hobbs thrives with routine and would be happiest in a calm home where things stay fairly predictable.
Hobbs would also do best in a home where he has companionship — human, canine, or both — and where his gentle, sensitive nature can be appreciated. He is healthy, sweet, and ready to be someone’s very loyal little shadow.
If you’re looking for a soft, affectionate dog who just wants to love and be loved, Hobbs might be your guy.
If you’d like to take Hobbs home, please fill out an adoption application at this link – https://animalalliesrescue.org/dog-application. The adoption fee is $300 and covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like this one for their forever homes. By the time you meet them, they’ve already been spayed/neutered (if age-appropriate) and microchipped. They’ve been checked by a veterinarian and are up to date on necessary vaccinations, including Rabies and DHLPP. They have also been tested for heartworm and tick-borne diseases and have started heartworm and flea preventative medication. Some of our dogs have even undergone extensive medical care to ensure they’re ready for a happy, healthy life with you!

Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Animal Allies Rescue Foundation (AARF). At the heart of our work is ensuring that each AARFie is matched with a family that is going to be their forever family. The application process is the first step in helping us understand you, your home, and factors that may help us determine if this pet is a great match for you — or, help you find a fit that will be. Please complete all the information in our species specific adoption applications; missing information may delay the adoption screening process.
Please note:
AARF only adopts pets to people in the Baltimore/DC metro region. In certain circumstances, we will consider homes in closer areas Pennsylvania, Delaware and Northern Virginia. This is due to the required home visit and long term ability to support the adoption. If you live outside of an hour radius of Baltimore, it is unlikely that your application will be approved.
Completion of the application form does not guarantee AARF will place one of our pets in your care. Many of our animals receive multiple applications, and we evaluate each applicant on fit for the specific animal (not first come first serve).
Completion of the application authorizes AARF to verify any information contained herein, including verification of medical records of any present or prior pets treated by the veterinarians listed.
AARF utilizes Truthfinder, a leading provider of public data about people and their connections to others, to verify certain information provided on foster and adoption applications. Truthfinder does not provide consumer reports and is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Completion of the adoption application is an indication that the information contained within this application is accurate and not misleading in any way.
All adoptions are at the sole discretion of AARF.
We also remind you that animals are not a short-term commitment, and as such, please give careful consideration to adopting an animal. Make sure your lifestyle allows the time, patience and expenses this animal will need over the years.
