Meet Jesse Gemstone! This 25 lb hunk of love is truly a gem of a dog. Jesse is about 5 years old and can best be described as a happy-go-lucky guy who loves to be loved—especially by the women in his life. He came to us with his two siblings after their owner passed away, and since arriving in foster care he has made wonderful progress and continues to gain confidence every day.

Jesse is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained, and does great on walks and car rides. He gets along well with other dogs and previously enjoyed playing in the small dog play group at the shelter. He has also thrived during staycations in other foster homes away from his siblings, showing that he would be perfectly happy as either a second dog or an only dog.

Jesse tends to feel more comfortable around women and may growl when unfamiliar men first enter the room. He is not aggressive and warms up with time, patience, and calm introductions. With a loving, understanding home that lets him build trust at his own pace, Jesse will continue to blossom into the amazing companion we know he can be.

As of early December, Jesse is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor!
