When Trace wandered out of the Natchez Trace, his tail gave the first hint of who he really is—gentle, hopeful, and longing for connection. This 2–3-year-old black and white Lab mix, possibly with some Great Pyrenees in his lineage, carries a sweetness that is impossible to miss. His 68-pound frame may look imposing at first, especially with his intense amber eyes, but anyone who meets him quickly discovers a soft-hearted boy who wants nothing more than to be loved.
Trace is wonderful with other dogs and has shown himself to be friendly and patient with cats as well. He enjoys staying close during walks and does well on a leash, making him a great match for someone who wants a loyal companion by their side. Despite his size, he carries himself with a gentle, easygoing nature that puts other animals—and people—at ease.
Because of whatever life he had before rescue, Trace is still learning about everyday things many dogs take for granted. Doorways, car rides, and new spaces can make him hesitate, but with patience and encouragement, he moves forward and gains confidence.
