My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi friends, I'm Ludo.

I’m a young cream and tan husky mix, and I’ve got big puppy energy to match my big personality. I’m bouncy, playful and always excited about what’s happening next, especially if it involves people giving me cuddles and attention.

I’m learning my manners right now! I'm getting the hang of walking on a leash and "sit" and "wait." The good news? I’m very food-motivated, so training with me is fun and rewarding - I’ll do just about anything for a tasty treat.

I love being around other dogs and do really well with them. I’m looking for a home that’s ready to keep teaching me, play with me and give me lots of love while I grow into the amazing dog I’m meant to be.

If you’re ready for a happy, energetic pup who just wants to be your best friend, I’m your guy!

Adoptions are completed on a first come, first served basis. Please note there may be a wait to meet with a pet, dependent on advisor availability.

Please allow plenty of time to meet your perfect pet. Once you have selected a pet, the adoption process will take at least 30 minutes. We do not begin the adoption process after 5:30 pm.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
