Maggie has known what it means to be someone’s whole world.
She spent her life as a deeply loved, cherished companion. And then, last year, her person — the one who had cared for her and loved her completely — suddenly passed away.
In an instant, Maggie’s world changed.
She lost her home. She lost her routine. Most heartbreakingly, she lost the human she adored.
Through their own intense allergies and grief, her owner’s family stepped in. They saw her sadness. They recognized that she, too, was grieving. And even though it wasn’t easy, they cared for her until she could find safe placement with us.
When Maggie arrived in foster care, another challenge surfaced: she had extensive dental disease that needed treatment. So her stay became a little longer than expected. But sometimes healing takes time — and sometimes it takes the right place.
And Maggie found that place.
She landed in one of our top-tier foster homes, where she was treated not like a temporary guest, but like she belonged. Slowly, gently, she began to blossom again.
She started playing.
She began sleeping beside her foster mom at night.
And just last week, she did something beautiful — she jumped into her foster mom’s lap while she was relaxing in her favorite chair.
It wasn’t just a jump.
It was trust.
It was healing.
It was Maggie choosing love again.
Maggie will never forget the person who loved her first. But she knows — in her quiet, steady way — that he would want her to be happy. He would want her safe. He would want her cherished.
And Maggie promises this: whoever opens their heart to her next will receive unconditional love in return.
