My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion.

A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.

Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.

Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.

Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list.

thanks
the CPR Adoption team

Date into Rescue:  11/16/25
Reason for being in rescue: Transferred in from another rescue
Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC
Special Needs? Petey is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 12/4/25 he had a dental polishing. Petey is a BIG dog. He needs to eat in a slow feeder.
Weight: 73 lbs
Height: 24 in
Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Adoption Fee: $699

Fence needed? Yes, Petey requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller.

What kind of home would be best for me? Petey is young, big and bold. He's the happiest boy you will ever meet - so happy that he frequently beats his tail to the point of bleeding. He can't help it - he simply LOVES life. Petey is looking for a family looking for a big personality. He's adventure-ready and eager to be part of the family.

Petey isn’t a jumper, and he’s not the type to come barreling into you at full speed. He’s simply a big boy who sometimes forgets just how large his back end is. Because of his size and strength, Petey would do best with older children who can handle a big, playful dog and the occasional friendly wrestle or happy bump. His enthusiasm is harmless, but it can be a lot for little ones.

When it comes to other dogs, Petey is still figuring things out. He is picky about his friends and really prefers not to share his space. Petey will not be adopted into a home with another dog, and he should not be taken to dog parks or doggy daycare.

What is my personality like? Are you looking for BIG, BOLD, and BEAUTIFUL - Look no further than Petey, the 73-pound Bernedoodle with a heart as oversized as his fluffy frame. Petey is a giant sweetheart - affectionate, eager to please, and wonderfully responsive to gentle correction. One little “ah-ah!” and he’s tuned right in, showing just how trainable this big boy can be with consistency and patience.

Petey isn’t a jumper and he’s not the type to plow into you full force - he’s simply a large, happy dog who sometimes forgets how much space he takes up. Because of his strength and size, he’d do best with older children who can handle a big, playful companion and the occasional accidental bump or wiggly lean.

Petey loves people and greets everyone as if they’re already his friend. He enjoys walks and adventures, though he’ll definitely benefit from continued leash training to channel all that enthusiasm. He’s bright, willing, and ready to learn the rhythms of a new home.

If you’re searching for a big, joyful, love-soaked companion who’s ready for adventures, snuggles, and all the affection you can offer, Petey might be the perfect match.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly to his core, Petey doesn’t meet strangers - he meets instant friends.

Other tips and tidbits: While the people who used to own Petey said he is "about a year" old. Our veterinarian feels he is around 3 years old.  We are celebrating his birthdate 11/14/22.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.

Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.

To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application.

Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.

Thank you for considering CPR.
