I wonder, does my foster mom’s friend know she has a kitten named after her? I’m Bev, one of four kittens named for high school friends of our foster mom after we were found with our mama Shirl in NW Rochester back in late September. Mama was so protective that our foster mom couldn’t get near us, but after mama went to the shelter, we started to come out of our shells, little by little. We are timid. I am a brown tabby with a pink nose and more white on my face than my sister Maggie. I`m the friendliest of the bunch. I will make biscuits, purring the whole time. I still hide, but I play with my sisters in the evening and into the night. Wand toys are my favorite. Our foster mom said that our room is a mess when she comes in the next morning! Toys everywhere! This is important: I need to be adopted with one of my sisters because we comfort one another. This will help me and them adjust more easily in our new homes. And two kittens are more fun than one! Given plenty of time and patience to settle into a new home, beautiful Bev can be a wonderful companion.

We want our clients to understand that adopting and animal is a lifetime responsibility and commitment to that animal.
All prospective adopters must show (at the time of adoption) a valid drivers license or other acceptable identification to verify their name, address, and age. Adopters must be 18 yrs of age. Children under the age of 12 years old need to be present at time of viewing shelter cats or dogs.
After submitting an application, there is generally a processing period of 1-3 days in order to complete all pre-adoption checks and paperwork before an adopter may take possession of the animal.

Paws and Claws Humane Society is committed to partnering with the community to shelter, protect, and seek adoptive homes for abandoned or lost companion animals.
We have served Southern Minnesota for over 30 years and we are the largest shelter in the 8 surrounding counties that does not limit the length of stay for the animals in its care.
Paws & Claws is funded completely on donations and fundraising events and receives no federal, state, county or city funds.We currently have nearly 900 dues paying members.
Paws & Claws has a community fund to help pay for the spaying and neutering of companion animals for those who cannot afford it.
We give over 40 tours and presentations annually, educating the public [including over 400 children] about proper animal care and the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals to help control the pet population in Southern Minnesota.
We have over 110 families that participate in the Guardian Angel Program [sponsoring animals] each month.
Paws & Claws will take in an injured animal and get the emergency medical care that it requires.
Local veterinarians in and around Rochester help Paws & Claws by providing over 145 free spay or neuters each year.
In a typical year the shelter will facilitate adoptions and provide care for over 600 dogs and cats.
