My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Alaska. I’m a gentle, sweet kitty with a big heart, but I’ve had a rough start in life. Coming into the shelter was stressful for me, and it’s taken a lot of courage just to get this far. I’m a little shy at first and need time to feel safe, but with patience and love, I blossom into a cuddly, playful companion. I love curling up in laps, being petted on my own terms, and chasing my favourite feathery toys. I’ve lived with cats and dogs before, I can be a bit picky with who I like, but I do best with slow, careful introductions. I’m looking for a calm, patient home where I can feel safe and truly be myself. If you can give me the extra TLC I need, I promise to fill your life with quiet love, gentle companionship, and little moments of joy. I just need someone who will let me come out of my shell—and finally experience the life I deserve.

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society was founded in 1926 and incorporated in 1949. The Humane Society has a publicly-tendered contract with the City of Windsor to provide animal control and basic shelter services in the City.
