My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Opalite, the sweetest little tripod you'll ever have the pleasure of meeting. 🧡💙

Opalite came into our care with a severely fractured leg, and despite every effort to save it, the kindest option was amputation. But don't you worry - this resilient gem hasn't let that slow her down one bit. She's adapted with quiet grace and moves through the world with a soft charm that makes you fall for her instantly.✨

At first, Opalite is a gentle observer - taking her time, watching with those thoughtful eyes, deciding if you're her kind of human. (Spoiler: you probably are.) Once she warms up, she leans fully into the cuddles, delivering soft purrs and the sweetest little meows you've ever heard. 😻

She adores the company of other cats and truly seems to draw comfort and confidence from having feline friends nearby. She's also quite the foodie - treat time is basically her love language - and she appreciates all the simple joys: a cozy bed, a kind voice, and a calm space to settle in.

Opalite doesn't ask for much, just a patient, gentle person who will give her the time she needs to feel safe. In return, she offers a deep, quiet affection and a heart full of tenderness. Once she trusts you... oh boy, she's loyal, loving, and all-in. 💖

This sweet, soft-souled girl is ready to find her forever home - a peaceful place where she can snuggle, relax, and blossom into the confident, cherished companion she's meant to be.

Opalite is waiting for her person. Could that be you?

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort
