My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Shay was brought in by a community member.

Why Shay might be the one for you:
Shay Natalia Gee (simplified here to Shay) is a handsome brindle dog. What's a brindle dog? It is the color, not the type of dog. Brindle is a coat pattern that has dark striping overlayed with lighter, colored fur. Shay wears her brindle coat well. Shay keeps herself quietly occupied with toys and naps in her kennel. Outside her kennel, she can get excited and jumpy. She soon calms down, however. Shay will need plenty of outside time and space to use up some her natural energy before she comes inside for pets and snuggles. Shay takes a little while to warm up to people but once she is accustomed to them, she is friendly and fun. She is smart so the additional training that she needs should be easy, especially if positive reinforcement verbals and treats are used. We can help you with the best way to use positive reinforcement training with a dog like Shay. A consistent routine and fun, enriching activities will help Shay get used to her new home and feel like part of her new family! If you'd like to learn more about Shay come visit us at the San Diego Campus today!

At SDHS:
Shay has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. Shay is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
