My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Nessie is the sweetest little 'monster' in the bunch!

We’d like to introduce you to our tiniest new foster pup, Loch Ness Monster! (Our name theme this month is monsters)

She was left in a box labeled “FREE” at an elementary school and ended up all alone at the shelter at only 5 weeks old the week of Thanksgiving.
Thanks to a wonderful staff member at the shelter, she was able to be in a warm home on Thanksgiving and she is now safe in her foster home where she is learning from her foster siblings, all the things she should have been learning from her mom, like bite inhibition, gentle play, and how not to terrorize your siblings
She is only 6 weeks old, so we will learn more about her cute little personality as she grows up. Her foster mom says she is a sweet, smart, and determined little pup. She is teething and wants to learn about the world by biting everthing in sight. She loves to play and follow her foster mom and the cat all around the house. She also gets very excited to meet new people when they come to the house. When she’s sleepy, she loves to be curled up on the couch with her foster parents. She sleeps in a soft crate and wakes up about twice a night which is pretty normal for a pup her age. She is learning to use piddle pads, but she is still so young, so house training will take time.
Since we did not see her parents, any future size and breed predictions are just an educated guess. She is just under 2 lbs now, and growing every day!
Anyone interested in adopting her should be prepared to continue working on her training, but please note she will not officially be available for adoption until she is at least 10 weeks old and spayed. *We may consider a foster to adopt situation for the right family who wants to adopt IF you have another dog in the home who can continue to teach her good behaviors. If you feel that is your home, please email an inquiry to beourpet@gmail.com.
Loch Ness is fostered in the East San Francisco Bay Area.

Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5

Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.

Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for parasites and given any additional treatments (dental work, bloodwork etc) as recommended by our vet.

Adoptions to veterans of the US Armed Services are ALWAYS free to thank you for your service.

We thank Well Pet Vet Clinic for providing most of our veterinary services and give a special thanks to volunteer photographers Tanya, Barbara, Kristy, Christine, Teressa and Natalie.

We are on all social media at @umbrellaofhope and we invite you to follow us and share which helps more people see and adopt our pets.

More about this rescue

Umbrella of Hope exists to rescue, rehibilitate, and rehome animals from shelter situations with a focus on East Contra Costa County, California. Our goal is to reduce the euthanasia of adoptable animals through increased adoptions of those animals already born. Help increase public safety by reducing the number of strays and feral animals through population control who might carry disease or pose other dangers to the community. Provide resources to pet owners to enable them to be responsible forever guardians of their companion animals. To increase public awareness of homeless pets, encourage spay and neuter of companion animals, and promote adoption for the acquisition of family pets.
