My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penelope is a bright, playful, and very social kitty who’s ready to charm her way into your heart. She loves interacting with people and is happiest when playtime is on the schedule. Her favorite toys include stuffed mice, balls, and wand toys. She also enjoys playing with other cats and does very well in a feline-friendly home.

Penelope has been around adult men and women as well as children ages 5–10 and does great with them. She’s affectionate and enjoys being petted, and while she’s not a full-on lap cat, she likes being near her people and can be held for short periods. She’ll even let you know when she’s in the mood for play—Penelope can be a little vocal when she wants your attention!

If you’re looking for a companion who will keep you entertained and keep you company, Penelope might be your perfect match!

The process is quite simple! Please stop by and see for yourself. All animals are spayed/neutered, dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped prior to going home.

Monday: closed to the public
Tuesday - Saturday:10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

More about this shelter

We are a non-profit open intake shelter that serves all of East Baton Rouge parish. We strive to improve the lives of abandoned, unwanted and abused animals in our parish. We house approximately 400 animals at any given time. We take in 20-30 new animals a day. We are always in need of fosters both short and long term, donations, and volunteers.
