My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Skye was rescued from a backyard colony at about four months old. He was covered in parasites and suffering from upper respiratory and eye infections. He was treated at the shelter and continued treatment at his foster home, where he was reunited his colony-mate Celio in a foster home.
Since then, the two have been having a wonderful time together, showing just how strong their bond is. Amazingly for a former colony cat, Skye immediately sought out human attention. He loves to play but is also a total cuddle bug who enjoys being close to his people.
Skye and Celio would love to find a forever home together, where they can continue to share their special bond and enjoy a life filled with love, playtime, and cuddles.

Adoptions fees are $ 300.00 for adult dogs and puppies, $ 110.00 for cats or kittens. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. Vaccinations are given up to date, dogs are tested for heart worm and tick borne diseases and cats for feline leukemia/Aids. All animals are tested for parasites and treated accordingly. The shelter is located on eastern Long Island on the scenic North Fork. The physical address is 2259 River Rd., Calverton, N.Y. 11933, however, a building/renovation project is underway. Our current location to view adoptable dogs is the BideaWee Home shelter located at 118 Old Country Rd. in Westhampton, N.Y. for the next 6-8 months. The cattery and low cost spay/neuter clinic are in full operation during construction at the River Rd., Calverton facility.The shelter is open daily 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. All pets can be viewed during those hours or online at www.kentanimalshelter.com.

We are a no-kill shelter and operate on donations from private individuals and foundations. In addition to adoption and rescue, the shelter has a low cost spay/neuter clinic on premises open to the public that sterilizes approximately 4000 animals per year to combat overpopulation. Over 600 animals are rescued and re-homed yearly.
