Hi there. My name is Bertram, but my friends call me Bert. I’m a gentle soul with a big heart—once I know you. I’m the kind of dog who likes to take things slow. New places and new people can feel a little overwhelming at first, so I may hang back and watch quietly while I get my bearings. Give me a bit of time, a soft voice, and some patience, and you’ll see my true self come out. When I feel safe, I’m incredibly loving and mellow. I enjoy calm company, cozy spots to rest, and being near my people—no need for constant excitement. I’m happiest just sharing space, soaking in the comfort of knowing I belong. If you’re someone who appreciates a slow-blooming friendship and understands that the best bonds take time, I think we could be perfect for each other. I promise that once I open my heart to you, it’s yours for good.
Borrow a Buddy Notes:The Highlight of our Day Out Saying goodbye to a BAB is never easy. Bertram was especially difficult because he’s such a good loving boy. While he is shy at first, he was warming up by the time we got to our house. He is great with kids and other dogs. One resident dog wanted nothing to do with him, and he left her alone. The other house dog would sometimes play with him, and Bertram knew to be gentle with her as she’s much smaller. If you want him to melt into you, rub the base of his ears-he’ll fall asleep standing. He also thinks he’s a lap dog and likes to be held-yes. Like a baby. While Bertram was friendly with the entire family, once he found HIS person, he wouldn’t leave their side. Bertram is fantastic on a leash. He doesnt pull when walking or running. He is absolutely intrigued by wildlife, but he never lunged at them. A flock of ducks flew up right in front of us, and he didn’t even flinch. He was the best houseguest
Come meet me from 12 PM to 6 PM, open every day. No application or appointment required - walk-ins welcome. SPCA of Texas, 2400 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212
