My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oh, hello there, my name is Big Ammachi and I`m a beautiful 9-year-old, female, tortoiseshell cat! You may have heard rumours about torties having `tortitude` but I assure you that`s made up by Big Orange Cats trying to hog all the attention! I am super sweet, very friendly, and actually quite shy to start, but I love getting pets, brushing, and attention. I`m even a perfect lady when getting my nails trimmed. Once I have time to get to know my new home, I will be glued to your side!

Yes, technically I am a senior cat, but I still have energy! I am on a very specific diet, and as I slowly lose my extra chub, I keep getting more playful and athletic. I love interactive play with my human - tossing spring toys, laser pointers, and dragging wand toys. I especially love running in and out of a cat tube and batting at toys through the windows.

In my downtime, I love to sleep in a cat house, cat bed, my carrier, on a cat tree, or leaning up against your leg. I like to have lots of safe places to sleep, but also a good window spot for watching all the birds outside. If your New Year`s resolution is less screen time, I can help you with that! Anyone distracted by their phone around me will receive taps on their arm to remind them that the best thing for their mental health is to pet a cat!

If you`re looking for the sweetest kitty around, put in an adoption application for me today!

***NOTE*** Please remember that animals are coming back from foster care to the centres for their meet and greets. They will be experiencing a new environment and meeting new people, which means they may not exhibit the same behaviours they did in their foster videos or while in foster care.

If you are viewing this animal through 24Petconnect by PetPlace or Adopt-a-pet, please visit our website https://kwsphumane.ca/adopt/process to submit an application. Any applications submitted outside of www.kwsphumane.ca may not be received.

Additional adoption info

*Please note that walk-in appointments are welcomed and encouraged, and will be prioritized over online applications.

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your environment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
