Dorothy’s journey hasn’t always been kind. She was dumped at a high-kill shelter in Stanislaus, where she quietly resigned herself to being unwanted. But her story took a beautiful turn when her incredible foster parents stepped in and gave her a brand-new leash on life (yes — we had to 😉).
Since then, Dorothy has truly blossomed. She received the eye surgery she needed, was showered with love, patience, and comfort, and even formed an unlikely best friendship with a rehabilitating chicken. Somewhere along the way, Dorothy discovered the fountain of youth — and it turns out, it’s love.
Now thriving, happy, and full of personality, Dorothy may not be a spring chicken… but she sure acts like one. She’s playful, affectionate, and ready to find her person — someone who will be her adventure buddy and continue showing her just how special she is.
Dorothy is living proof that it’s never too late for a second chance — and she’s ready for her forever.

Our name is inspired by our beloved great-grandmother, who at 99 years old continues to share her deep love for animals. Grandma’s compassion is the heart of our mission—to give every animal a second chance at life, whether through permanent sanctuary, foster care, or adoption into a forever home.
