This is Clifford’s story. Our big red hound dog came to us in horrible shape. Skinny, filthy, broken teeth, heartworm positive, bloody nose, the list goes on. All this indicated, he most likely lived his whole life as an outdoor dog, maybe someone’s discarded hunting dog when he was found as a stray. We honestly don’t know. What we do know…
Cliff has the heart of an angel. All he wants is to love and be loved and feel safe and secure.
When we rescued him, one of our wonderful foster families took him in, nursed him back to health, showed him all the love he had been missing his whole life. Clifford was in heaven. Then came the tough part. Cliff started having a lot of trouble when they had to leave everyday for school/work. So much so that he was completely panicked about it. After months of trying various things, we made the hard decision to move him to a new foster home. We wanted someone who had other dogs so he could maybe get some comfort from them when being left by humans. We also wanted someone who was home a little more often.
