Balou is a laid-back, lovable guy who’s ready to settle into his next home. According to his previous owners, Balou is very friendly, affectionate, and a total couch potato. If you’re looking for a cat who’s happy to lounge beside you while soaking up pets, Balou is your perfect match. Balou is also quite the talker and isn’t shy about letting you know when it’s time for food or extra attention—both of which he absolutely loves! His sweet, social personality made him a great companion for kids, and he did wonderfully living with them in his previous home. When it comes to other animals, Balou is a pro. He previously lived with three other cats and did very well, and he has also lived successfully with dogs in the home. With his easygoing nature, he should adapt nicely to a variety of family situations. If you’re looking for a friendly, chatty, food-loving cuddle buddy to keep you company on the couch, Balou may be the perfect addition to your family!

Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
(Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.)
#2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD**
If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours.
**Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events.

All cat adoption fees include;
-spay/neuter
-rabies vaccine
-current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian)
-FeLV/FIV blood test
-microchip implanted & registered to the adopter
-treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites
-veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin
-free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians
Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
