Houdie Fenton is a very handsome and kind gentleman. Fenton is a very sweet boy, squishy and lovable. He is not shy around new people and just wants to be loved. When walking on a leash he seems to do well on a harness and is easy to walk. A simple touch on his butt and he will sit for you. He would be happy in a home with another dog - cats, not so much. He does very well on car rides and likes going places.
He lives with a puppy and is able to deal with puppy energy. Fenton does not resource guard even when the puppy comes to his bowl to share with him. They crate him at home and, while not his favorite place, he eventually settles down. In the morning, Fenton will be vocal to let them know he has to go outside.
Fenton is a strong player with other dogs but he knows how to stop himself and take a break. He has never growled at or otherwise ‘argued’ with other dogs - this is a dog who just wants to have fun.
Houdie is the sweetest boy. He loves to get belly rubs. He doesn’t like baths, but behaves really well while bathing because he loves all the body rubbing. When he gets the zoomies and starts running around the backyard he is so happy. He loves to run with other dogs.
Houdie was likely born deaf and has lived his entire life without hearing. So, here’s the deal: living with and training a deaf dog is just like living with and training a hearing dog - just takes a bit longer to get him used to learning signs. Have experience with hearing impaired dogs? He’s your man. Love him but no experience? Houdie is still your guy. He just wants to love you and get belly rubs and be yours forever. Learning some doggie signs will only enhance your love for each other.
Houdie's foster finders found him in a parking lot in Houston - apparently abandoned. Houdie’s finders approached him and saw that he needed some care. They immediately took him to the vet who kept him overnight. The next morning, his finders went and picked him up. The vet had cleaned up a few cuts on his head, estimated that he is two years old and determined that the dog was deaf and had been born that way. He was very well behaved at the vet and at our own Three Little Pitties medical team who said he was a dream when handling him. There was just no way his finders could abandon this dog. His finders then became his fosters.
The new fosters started him on all his vaccinations and treatments for worms and named him Fenton. Like most rescued dogs, Fenton rested and slept for the first week at his new home. Soon he decompressed and started looking for some walks. So, they got him a collar and a harness and off they went.
(OPTIONAL - How he got his name: Sometime during the second week in his home his family went to run an errand. They left him in the fenced backyard. When they returned, he was sitting on the front porch waiting for them to open the door. Thus, Fenton gained a first name and is now Houdini Fenton - Houdie for short.)

The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is one of the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone!
Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no choice but to euthanize animals for space. We prepare them for adoption by properly vetting and providing individualized care through our incredible behavior program that consists of socialization and leash training for all animals that enter our adoption program prior to matching them with loving families who will treasure them for the rest of their lives.
They are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts once adopted, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
Three Little Pitties Rescue will soon be celebrating our 5 year anniversary! Over the course of this time, we have been very fortunate for so much growth, allowing us to further connect with the community and save many lives. Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 10,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes!
By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be brought into our rescue program. Together, we can be heroes.
