My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

****COURTESY LISTING FOR ALL PAWS K9 RESCUE****

Are you looking for an adventure dog who will spend all day with you out and about and then curl up to snuggle with you after a long day of exploring?

Then look no further:

Meet SKIP!

Skip is a 50lb one-year-old spare-parts-mixed breed pup who loves people, dogs, playing ball, going for walks, running around the yard, playing with toys, snuggling, napping… let’s just say Skip loves life.

It’s clear that Skip once had a home and some training. He is pretty decent on a leash (no pulling but some whining when he gets excited), has a solid Sit, and instead of “Drop it”, he knows “Let go.” It’s possible he knows plenty more and we just haven’t unlocked the exact phrases yet.

He is crate-trained and has no problems while you’re away, but he would prefer to sleep with you at night. Skip loves to snuggle, draping himself across your legs, or snuggling his big head against your chest.

Skip is an athlete and would probably enjoy dock diving, flyball, and other dog sports. But if he can’t get any organized sports in, then wrestling and running with another dog or playing fetch for hours satisfies him.

Skip really is the whole package:
• House trained
• Crate trained (he may cry for about 10 minutes upon leaving but then settles down and sleeps)
• Dog friendly - loves playing with other dogs and has excellent dog communication skills
• People friendly - wants to meet every person on the street and become friends with them
• Treat-, Toy-, and Affection-motivated (but also squirrel-motivated), so easy to train, but also can get distracted
• Great in the car
• Decent leash skills, but could use some more
• Uniquely handsome

Skip needs a place to run to get out his ya-ya’s, and he can be vocal when he’s frustrated (a very hitch-pitched cry; think Belgian Malinois police dog or puppy cry), so he may not be appropriate for small apartments with shared walls. But he has so much positive energy, once it’s harnessed and focused, there is no limit to what this dog can do!

If you think you may be Skip’s life adventure partner, please contact allpawsk9rescue@gmail.com or Skip’s foster mom at wolfheart93@yahoo.com for an application.

Skip is being fostered in Burbank, CA, and he is neutered, up to date on shots, and has had dewormer and flea treatment.

More about this rescue

My Way Home Dog Rescue is a small group of volunteers located in and around Portland, OR, helping one dog at a time. Dogs are housed in volunteer foster homes to assess their behavior and level of training, and to develop their basic social skills. They often have exposure to other pets and people that they would not get in a shelter setting. The stresses of group living in shelters sometimes masks a dog's true personality. We want our dogs to shine and strive to make the best match possible.
