My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Bella (pronounced Bay-a, my previous family spoke Spanish). I’m a big, soft-hearted girl who’s still learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. New people and new situations make me a little nervous at first, so I like to take things slow and warm up at my own pace. If you give me that time, I’ll show you my true self: wiggly, playful, and wonderfully goofy. Toys are my absolute favorite and they’re the fastest way to my heart. Once I get going, I’ll happily bounce around, trade toys, and show off just how fun-loving I can be.

I’m very food motivated and already know sit, down, and paw. Treats help me feel brave, and I walk fairly well on leash for a big girl, with just a bit of pulling that’s easy to redirect. I’ve met other dogs and have been calm, polite, and friendly, especially with dogs who are respectful and give me space to warm up. I don’t show any aggression, even when I’m unsure, but I may whine or bark if I’m feeling frustrated or overwhelmed. Gentle guidance helps me settle, and I listen well when redirected kindly.

I’d love a home with patient people who understand that confidence comes with time. Respectful, dog-savvy kids are okay with me, and I might do well in an apartment if someone is home often, as I can be vocal when left alone. Cats are a mystery, so slow introductions would be important. I was surrendered through no fault of my own, and I’m ready for a fresh start with someone who sees past my nerves and notices my sweet heart. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who blossoms with trust, I just might be your girl.
