As his foster… yeah. This one hurts. The love we have for this gentle giant is truly unhinged. 💔
Meet Grover.
Proud owner of the largest head-to-body ratio you’ve ever seen.
Is it full of brain cells? Unknown. Unconfirmed. Questionable.
The vet officially declared him “a solid boy.” Correct. Accurate. Scientific.
Grover has clearly been hitting the gym — chest day, leg day, head day. His enormous noggin does not match his body-builder, gym-rat physique and honestly? We wouldn’t change a thing.
🐾 GROVER — Gentle Giant. Professional Grumbler. Emotional Support Beefcake. Grover does great with other friendly cats and is often found perched on a cat tree like a gargoyle, silently judging your life choices… or demanding affection in the weirdest, funniest way possible.
💛 Personality & Quirks
* Confident, gentle, patient, and EXTREMELY food-motivated
* Communicates exclusively via tiny hisses and growls that translate to “I love you, don’t stop”
* Loves Churus, chicken flavors, and luxury lounging
* Not a fan of kennels — prefers freedom, naps, and vibes
* We are not sure if he’s been around dogs. But his easy going gargoyle self would be just fine with a slow introduction.
He does great with other cats and is part of a tight-knit group of big males we lovingly refer to as the “cat version of Brokeback Mountain.” Former street fighters turned cuddle buddies. Character development at its finest.
He is not necessarily bonded to anyone, but he would do great being adopted with one of his former street buddies, Bridger or Miller.
😾 Things I Hate (According to Grover)
* When you stop giving me attention
* Carriers
* Car rides (absolutely not)
We made several vet trips to check his ears and this big hunk will physically make himself sick in the car. He drools uncontrollably and cries like the giant baby he is. Please keep car rides to an absolute minimum. Thank you for respecting his boundaries. 🚫🚗
🍽 Diet (aka The Menu)
* Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken
* Friskies Chicken or Surfin’ & Turfin’
* Purina One Adult Chicken Dry (Chicken supremacy. No negotiations.)
💙 FIV Info — The Important Stuff
Grover is FIV-positive, which simply means his immune system needs a little extra care. With good care, he can live a long, healthy, happy life. FIV-positive cats can safely live with other friendly, vaccinated cats — and FIV poses no risk to humans.
Grover has survived the storm, built his gains, perfected his grumble, and is now ready for a forever home that understands one simple truth:
🖤 “I sound spicy… but I am actually a marshmallow.”
As his foster… yeah. This one hurts. The love we have for this gentle giant is truly unhinged. 💔

More about this rescue
🐾 Our Mission at Billy the Kidden Rescue 🐾
Billy the Kidden Rescue is a VDACS-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2014 and supported by a network of over 60 active foster homes across Hampton Roads.
Our mission is to improve the lives of displaced cats and reduce the feral cat population in our community by socializing outdoor-born and feral kittens—transforming them into loving, adoptable pets and placing them in safe, forever homes.
💙 Our Heart is in TNR
We are proud advocates of TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return)—the humane, effective method of managing community cats. Through this program, feral cats are:
✔️ Trapped
✔️ Neutered or Spayed
✔️ Vaccinated
✔️ Ear-Tipped (as a universal sign they've been fixed)
✔️ Returned to live safely in their outdoor colonies without contributing to overpopulation.
We are actively working to promote legal and social acceptance of TNR in Hampton Roads.
🐱 Feral Kitten Socialization
Our feral kitten socialization program is one of a kind—with a 90% success rate in helping feral-born kittens become affectionate, in-home pets. Through experienced fostering, patience, and love, these kittens learn to trust, play, and thrive indoors.
💪 Get Involved!
We’re always looking for passionate animal lovers to join our team. Help us make a difference by becoming a:
Foster
Volunteer
Transporter
TNR Trapper
🎁 Support Our Work
Donations keep our rescue running, and we’re always in need of supplies! Check out our wish lists to see what’s needed most:
